“The Journey” is the record of an unusual trip, written down 33 years after its realization.

This book is more than a travelogue. It tells the story of the narrator, Cornelia Müller Fetahi, who, in her role as Fabian’s mother, does not let herself be deterred from pursuing a lifelong dream.

We are part of it. From the journey back in 1990 and in the collaboration for the book’s publication in 2026.

At a time when the Berlin Wall fell and the Iron Curtain began to dissolve, two befriended couples, with two-year-old Fabian, set off on an adventurous journey as “Mümära’s Wandering Theatre.” On foot with a horse, donkey, dog, and covered wagon from Gams in Eastern Switzerland to the Greek island of Samos. An image that drew many laughing and longing eyes and became the subject of countless photo opportunities and friendships.

This book is more than a travelogue. It tells the story of the narrator, Cornelia Müller Fetahi, who, in her role as Fabian’s mother, does not let herself be deterred from pursuing a lifelong dream – aware of the risks such an undertaking entails. She sets off with her family, despite resistance and fears from her surroundings – still without a mobile phone, GPS, or social media – leaving the familiar behind and entering new territory.

Mostly independent of external political conditions, the travelers enjoyed touching support, help, and often almost boundless hospitality – also attracted by the author, who lived and lives a comprehensive mother’s love in her being, and whose charisma created many positive connections with people. This is palpable and readable throughout every line.
