At the beginning of March, we handed over the keys to Scuola Vivante, moved out our belongings, cleaned and vacated the apartment.
Ready to travel. Things turned out differently.

First travel stage “Rietli Upgrading Project”
In the first weeks of the lockdown, we were granted hospitality in Berschis and Buchs. Jürg used the time to accompany the “Rietli team” in the redesign of the meadow area into the original pond and moor landscape. The spring warmth and the standstill of public life attracted crowds of walkers and cyclists to the local recreation area on the outskirts of Buchs. Much appreciation and joy for the second expansion stage taking shape. The website provides an insight. www.rietli-buchs.ch
In co-isolation at “Pflege und Hospiz im Werdenberg”
The second door opened shortly before Easter. For twelve days, we went into co-isolation at the “Pflege und Hospiz im Werdenberg” nursing home, which was completely closed in spring. We moved within the same radius accessible to the residents. Open to what we would encounter. With us were a film camera, photo equipment, and an audio recorder…

This time was additionally intensely touching, as our mother/mother-in-law, a resident of the nursing home, unexpectedly began to open up to the dying process during these very days. Some of you know her as a Latin teacher at the Freie Volksschule Werdenberg.
In Winterthur
We then received unlimited residency from filmmaker Michelle Brun (Mare Nostrum, Tele Vivante, Kefalonia Project) and her family in Winterthur. We used the shared lockdown hours to review and evaluate the material collected at the nursing home. Michelle Brun took over editing and dramaturgical design. The 20-minute film “Stimme des Abends” (Voice of the Evening) was created. The flyer is attached.
We used the second “half of the time” to support Michelle Brun and André Hochueli in founding the school and association “Filasez”. Our broad experience in school development enabled the young initiative to make rapid progress and launch “Filasez” in August. A look at the website is worthwhile. Support is also welcome. filasez.ch
Company founding in Kloster Kappel and encounter with the Sterna Hirundo
The heatwaves led us to the countryside. At Kloster Kappel am Albis, we celebrated the founding of our company “trailblazing GmbH” – Storytelling and Consulting – created the trailblazing website, completed the film “Stimme des Abends,” and enjoyed walks by Lake Türlersee as well as film and photo sessions with the common tern Sterna Hirundo at Horgen harbor – an idea for a next film project.

Kino Online during the olive harvest
After the internal previews of “Stimme des Abends” for the residents of the nursing home and for the staff at Kino Werdenberg, we packed the car and drove towards Spain. Always with the thought: how can we make this current socio-political yet so poetically touching film, which raises the question of how to deal with the increasingly aging people in our society and their place in our lives, widely accessible. During the contemplative work of the olive harvest at friends’ on an Andalusian finca, the idea came: Kino Online.
We cordially invite you to a cinema evening, to enjoy music and travel, to conversations and a fine aperitif at the cinema bar. In addition to “Stimme des Abends,” three other films by Michelle Brun are available, including “Mare Nostrum – A Concert. A Journey.” With a freely chosen cinema admission. This is our livelihood and that of other artists.

The journey ahead
It continues. Where to, we don’t know yet. There are ideas in the air. Projects we are accompanying. Now letting the new grow. Also being able to wait. Listening. Listening to life. Patience and courage for the future. In this challenging global situation.
